[sousei seems like the kind of person who'd have an idea of how to proceed from here.]

Obviously, he must be locked away, both for others' safety and...his own.

[Sousei grimaces.]

While I cannot say I care much for his safety, there is the matter that someone who might otherwise not consider killing will get the misguided intention of exacting "justice". I would rather they not bloody their hands over this.

We'd probably descend into insanity at that point, huh?

Once we start okaying vigilante justice, we might as well just okay everything.

... How are we going to lock him away, though?

We do not have much to work with, that is for certain. A possibility is barricading a door to an empty room, both from the outside and inside.

[Then Akechi would have to let his murderer in, and someone would have to also let Akechi out if he wanted to escape.]

It is not foolproof, but we do not have many options.

I guess... So, how do we organize something like that? Seems like the kind of thing we'd all have to agree on.

[as akechi runs around tomorrow stabbing tapestries.]

Organizing everyone to agree with it would be difficult, but the ideal behind the barricade on both sides is to make it so that Akechi would have to let his murderer in.

He may not have the self-preservation to make that function properly, but there is little else that I can think of that would not require every last person here to agree.

[because quite frankly, some of the people here are asses.]

I mean, more like we should probably make it public that this is how we're gonna deal with non-executed murderers? Just so that it's not, "Sousei decided this is his punishment, so it's going to happen."

Obviously. I do not fancy myself some authority in this place that can make decisions on my own. Everyone must know of it, and the majority must agree. But not every last person in this place must agree, if enough think it is a valid solution.

Regardless, gathering everyone over a meal or something similar and brainstorming solutions then seems most plausible.

You still wish to find a way to protect everyone here, no matter how it is you try to act.

But I do not entirely blame him for what he has done. The leverage they have over the people here, to get them to commit murder...

[He thinks of Ann, crying in her cell, and his expression twists a little.]

Children should not be forced to deal with such a thing, though he did wrong.

... It sucks a lot, yeah. So, you believe him when he says the Crafters approached him and told him to do it?

Because Takamaki also committed the same crime, and she would not have done so if she was not pushed to do it by an offer she did not think she could refuse. I believe they were approached together.

It's weird to think about. I mean, I spoke with Akechi a lot before this. So the personality switch or maybe even the murder part isn't too much of a surprise... but I guess now I have to parse just how much of the whole "helpful detective who wants to solve the mysteries of this place" schtick was real.

I think it was a very helpful facade that he is used to adopting, but that he did not give any sort of care towards any of us--not like that.

It was simply in his best interests to work with us for that point in time.

In the sense of deceiving us or because figuring out this place benefits him as well?

[in a way, this hits a little close to home.]

It could be either, truly. Perhaps it was both. They did go hand-in-hand, at the time.
