week 1; wednesday ( shirasu )
[you know how belph was expecting this day to end?
NOT LIKE THIS.
in any case, belph will be waiting in their room for shirasu to return, his expression making his message clear: explain. because seriously, what the hell.]

[which he'll pull out to show to belph. it says 'to you who severed your tie', with a little poem after:
"I can be whoever you want,
Despite all that this week has wrought.
Should from your partner you find yourself untied--
Gift me from their likeness and I shall stay by your side."]
We'd have been in a better position if I could get both, but this will have to do for now. He didn't read it before we left.

... Sounds like whatever he has is meant to save someone if their partner dies.
no subject
[sighs... he'd have liked to have that choice in their hands. he doesn't trust that natsuo won't just go around telling people about it if he finds out.]

He seems like the type who would go along with it, if prompted, but it loses any benefit for us if he can save them on his own.

... I'll see what I can do. It may have to stay with him, but as long as he stays in the dark we still have an advantage.
no subject
Though I do hope you aren't using whatever it is as a future replacement for me!
no subject
Letting you know about it means that you could do the same, after all.
no subject
But honestly, I have no complaints about having you as my partner. [a beat.] Except for maybe when you show up covered in blood. Try not to do that again, thanks.
no subject
[it's fine, they're fine...]
I'll try not to show up bloodied if you'll try to ask fewer suspicious questions in public.
no subject
That was one time! I was testing a theory!
no subject
[there was also the burn incident but like. details.]
no subject
Fine. We're tied for now.
no subject
We'll just have to see which of us breaks it first.

Technically speaking, I think those one of those things is less sketch than the other.
no subject
--'sketch'?
[as in art?? what?
hey why'd I play a past time period asshole.]
I assume you mean one is more concerning, but...

[please update him on slang, god. though those weren't really slang tbf.]
It might not be a bad idea to learn.
no subject
[someone stop this]
Yeah, "sketch"—or sketchy, if you prefer—means something's shady. Questionable, you know?
Anything else you're confused about?
no subject
[he considers, for a moment.]
What sort of slang do you think would be useful to know?
no subject
[i can't believe this is happening, jan says as she pulls up a slang dictionary.]
There's "lit", which means "cool"—not the temperature kind, that is—or, alternatively to get high. You know what high means, right?
no subject
[things I'm not looking up right now: the etymology of 'getting high'. we're just going with it.]
I'm aware of what a high is, yes, though I never dealt with opium or anything like that myself.
no subject
[what else...]
If you ever hear someone [who, half the game is ye olde] say that they "stan" someone, that means they'd defend them. Not in a physical manner, but more like... well, in our context, one example would be, "There's no way they could've committed murder!" Someone who says would be stanning the other person.
no subject
[this is so cursed.]
no subject
[there are so many regrets right now.]
And if you wanted to say that something or someone was being needlessly dramatic, you'd call them "extra".
no subject
...I'm unsure if it's a compliment or an insult to him that he makes such a good example.
