week 6; monday ( sanji )
[yo, sanji. hopefully this encounter is less alarming than some of the previous ones, as belph seeks him out somewhere private.]
Hey. The Historians shared with me their most recent memory regain and it had to do with the Editors, so I was wondering if I could cross-reference it with you.

[A shrug. He truly doesn't seem angry despite all the bullshit he just laid out]
But I guess I can't be pissed off until I know the truth. Dragon-sama isn't enjoying this, and Tiger-sama... heh, she puts on a smile, but when I asked about the things that made her happy, her life before this shit started, she was just... sad. Maybe regretful.
It's my policy to listen to a woman's grief, no matter what happens to me.
no subject
Honestly... you're really something, you know that?
[he sounds a little impressed, frankly.]
no subject
Sanji needed to hear something that sounded like positive reinforcement, so.
Good on Belph. He seems to relax.]
Well, in any case... mouthing off to them isn't gonna help us. And who knows? Maybe they'll learn to be flexible with a rule here and there if we can show them a better way.
[shaking his head some. he's a dreamer, what can he say?]
Anyway, there more you wanna ask me?
no subject
Not mouthing off is a little difficult, but I'm trying to be civil...
[he's made dragon sort of smile sometimes?? that's good enough, right.]
Nah, that's pretty much it. Standard warning of "Akechi's out for the blood of Monika's killer" still applies, etc. I hope you're still keeping your role hidden?
no subject
Just you and my Editor partner.
[Belph already knows Sanji's got one, he's not gonna hide it.]
... That said, I've been wondering to myself if we should use that to our advantage -- uh, I mean the fact I can get caught once under the right conditions.
Do you know who our Villains are? I know of two for certain, and one of 'em is working on their objectives. I'm worried we're gonna stumble into a bad ending by targeting them too much.
no subject
—Ah, I didn't tell them I knew an Editor, before you get worried about that.
[he's quiet for a moment. when he speaks, it's not without reluctance.]
I haven't found any in my checks, but... you're looking at one right now.
no subject
... So. Here's the only issue with that.
I don't really give a shit if or when I die. Whatever gets this done so we can win.
But Zelos cares... a lot.
[Just. Closing his eyes briefly? His partner makes him tired, but Sanji's exasperation lacks any malice. There might be fondness hidden in there somewhere]
The moment I die, he'll get unwieldy out of spite towards most of you. So if we do anything that requires an Editor, we'll have to bring him around to the idea somehow.
[...]
He's also the Villain most willing to get his objectives done, so until that part's completed, hoping he didn't make too many enemies this week.
no subject
Big Bad Wolf, then?
[okay, belph might've been lying by omission regarding how much he knew about the other villains.]
no subject
... However he's built up some good will, so.]
That's him.
no subject
[especially since zelos has, like, no friends. oops. people find it difficult to social link him...
... in any case, sanji's made a leap of faith on him, so he supposes he can return the favour.]
... I'm actually not supposed to know most of this, so I'd appreciate it if you kept it a secret. But with that piece of info, I think I know the faction of every person in this war now. [...] I can't give you them all—I'd like to keep my partner's faction a secret, for one—but I guess I can tell you some?
no subject
[Bitchy redheads.]
Anyways, I won't rat you out. [he means it] But yeah, I wouldn't mind a couple of names here and there. You can keep your partner's a secret, that's fine. But in case I'm called to be a Blotter for some shitty reason, or one of the people I know turns out to be a Blotter and comes to me for help...
[He's sure Belph gets what he's trying to say. He's already killing people, so might as well direct the flow for the most benefits (or to just avoid the kids, sue him, he's still mad they're here)
He'll tell Belph the titles he doesn't got!
Civilians: Magic Mirror, Fairy Godmother, Puss in Boots, Cinderella's Prince, Wendy
Villains: Gingerbread Witch, Snow Queen, White Rabbit, Sea Witch
Heroes: A Singular Bear, Aladdin, Kingsman, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Princess, Goose Girl]
If you're willing, just gimme one or two names for each faction. I don't need the exact titles, just which group they belong to.
no subject
Veronica's a villain. And this is probably its own hint, but... I don't think you, of all people, have to worry about hitting any of the other villains by accident. As long as you stick to your morals, at least.
[that was the easy part. the harder part is...]
... Fane's a civilian, and Nico should be one as well. Magnus is a hero, and I'm pretty sure Evan is also one. So is Melloi, but I guess we all learned that last trial.
Of those, Veronica and Fane—and Melloi—are the only ones where I know their ability, and they're not the partner person.
no subject
[Just getting that out of the way, though Sanji had quieted in discontent when hearing Veronica listed as a a Villain. So Belph is probably right, Sanji will be able to avoid the Villains just by his moral code.
Irritated:]
Why does it gotta be you guys?
[He mad.
Also Belph is observant, he'll notice Sanji's eyes narrow slightly at the mention of "Evan" -- but not Waver.]
Alright, thanks for the information. That's good enough for me.
no subject
[honestly, sanji's indignation over the villain faction is a little sweet, but anyway.]
... Try not to stab Evan? I think Veronica likes him, and I like Veronica well enough.
[he has no idea what exactly sanji's reaction means, but he, uh. noticed they weren't doing so well at the last trial.]
no subject
[Mean Girl Drama]
He might come after me... kid was bold enough to harass me in my own kitchen and insinuate I don't care about any of you here.
[SHRUG]
So if I die, look into him first. From his point of view, he'd be getting rid of a liability.
no subject
[PLEASE.]
Though I guess it's kind of funny, all things considered. Did I ever tell you why I checked you?
no subject
[BUT IS HE WRONG? Sanji thinks not.
Tilting his head, no, he doesn't remember this information]
Oh, I forgot I never asked you. Did something give me away?
no subject
[they are, indeed, bored and petty.]
Not exactly. More like you seemed... especially invested in helping people out? So it seemed like a good idea to figure out if you had a role or not.
If it turned out that you didn't have a role, I probably would've used you as a point of contact, like the Historians are doing with Varian.
[and then sanji turned out to be a murderer, which oddly enough has not changed belph's opinion much, even if that was kind of a terrible time to learn who killed jae-ha.]
no subject
... I know I'm lying to everyone, but at this point, all I can do is keep the game going until we get a better solution or we gun for Dragon-sama's ending.
But that doesn't mean I can't... I dunno, help out when I can.
[Trying to worm his way into saying that his desire to help was never disingenuous? Though it probably seems it]
no subject
[a beat, as he realizes how that might sound.]
I mean, it sucks for you! [so, not glad on sanji's behalf.] But... better you than some psychopath, or whatever.
[belph's not exactly in a position to judge for lying, whether back home or here.]
no subject
[...]
That's a big reason why I accepted. When I realized someone else would take my place... could've been one of the kids, or someone who'd make it into a show.
[He couldn't have that.]
no subject
[but again, he actually admires it a little.]
no subject
no subject
I didn't say it was a bad thing! I just don't meet people like that often—and I'd expect it even less in this situation.
no subject
[...]
I got a question though. Whatever my beef with Evan, ain't gonna touch 'em, we've got more important things to worry about.
But does he have a role? I'm trying to keep out of their way as much as possible.
no subject
no subject
[...]
Does this mean you're a ... Vizier? Whatever the fuck that is.
no subject
[... though now he's curious as to which ones sanji knows.]
Got it in one. Guess it's pretty obvious now that the role names are public.
no subject
The more surprising shit was that there's two of your role. I didn't call that.
no subject
[his expression freezes, just for a split-second, at the mention of there being two viziers.]
... Mm-hmm.
no subject
Did I get it wrong...?
no subject
it's really tempting to lie his ass off, but sanji has been relatively honest (so far as he can tell??), so.]
... No, I'm probably just... feeling something similar to how you did when I brought up the second Editor.
[which is to say that he would've preferred keeping it hidden.]
no subject
[Baaacking off immediately then.]
Anyway, that's all I wanted to know.
[...]
If at any point you wanna know if I get assignments, come find me and I'll give you the heads up.
no subject
no subject
no subject
[there's no good reaction to "that's the day you find out if you have to kill people".]
no subject
[It's alright. Sanji gets it.
There's no good way to say he's used to feeling his heart shattered on Tuesdays, so!]
Anyway, I'll talk to you later.
no subject
he nods.]
See you.
